From Kremstal, just across the Danube from Wachau, and the mother-daughter team of Helmu Muller-Grossman and Marlies Hanke. This is Grüner from very deep and heavy loess soils, with more richness and texture than you’d expect from 2024 and delicious pear fruit at the core. A squirt of citrus and dusting of white pepper keep things fresh through the juicy, lightly mineral, finish. Yum!
For You If: You’re in the mood for Grüner with a bit richer fruit – not quite Chardonnay levels, but not too far off – and plenty of classic GV peppery bite.
Not For You If: You’re looking for oak spice or the buttery character wine gets from malolactic fermentation – this is all steel, no malo, all crisp and fresh.
