Since Enrico Mandiorla's grandfather founded the estate in 1913, the once rare and now resurgent Timorasso grape has been the focus. And this one is pure brilliance. The grape gives wines of deep texture and complex non-fruit aromas and flavor - stone, dried honeycomb, even dried lavender. This has all that plus gorgeous Honeycrisp apple and ripe apricot fruit and a dusty, stony, finish that sails on nicely. Pairs with everything from aged cheeses to seafood crudo with microgreens to aa big hunk of seared tuna or even crispy pork. A pretty stunning wine at about half the price of comparable examples.
For You If: You love whites with savory, stony, non-fruit flavors and a lot of texture; you're looking for a wine to pair with a dish that has a little something earthy/funky going on - this brings that element and balances it with beautiful fruit.
Not For You If: You're in the mood for a fruit-fiilled quaffing wine - this demands some attention, and rewards it!
