Organic/Bio Lower ABV Swiss native and former woodworker Sylvain Liotard is up to something very special in the Alpine vineyards of France's Savoie region. He farms small lots of vines intensely and with manic care, using organic and biodynamic treatments and loads of handwork. This is his 100% Jacquere white from the village of Apremont, fermented with native yeast and aged in ovoid tank so the wine naturally circulates on the fine lees for richness and definition.
And it's hard to believe how much richness of feeling a wine can have at just 10.5% alcohol! Big aromas of Granny Smith apple, crisp pear and beach grass lead to a very minerally mouthful of green citrus and tart yellow orchard fruits of outstanding clarity and freshness and a touch of something almost salty on the mouthwatering finish. No sulfur used during winemaking a just a tiny touch (<30mg/l) added at bottling so the wine stays fresh and pure for you to enjoy.
For You If: You love wines with lots of texture and minerality and not too much fruit; you're about to dig into some cheese fondue - this is a great match!
Not For You If: You're looking for big fruit like in Sauvignon Blanc or a lot of weight or oak.
