Organic/Bio Lower ABV Not a rosé, not Beaujolais and not really Zinfandel as you’ve come to expect it. But definitely delicious, gulpable, joyful fun here in very old-vine Zin made into wine as if it were Beaujolais Gamay. It’s a light, kind-of see-through, red, just 11.5% alcohol and bursting with big aromas and flavors of cranberry, raspberry and cherry that are fruity, but crunchy/tart rather than sweet. A couple of turns from a black pepper mill gives spice and a bit of raspberry leaf adds freshness to the silky smooth, mouthwatering, finish. It’s terrific at table, matching up well with everything from turkey & fixin’s to BBQ ribs, nachos or spicy Asian food. And, if you like, you can even given it a light chill and just soak up the refreshment next to a warming fire or on a sunny day.
For You If: You like heartier rosé and lighter reds with crunchy fruit and a silky finish; you’re after a great party/hang-out wine that everyone can enjoy with anything they’re eating.
Not For You If: You’re after the super-ripe and rich feel of traditional American Zinfandel – this has around 30% less alcohol than those big boys and drinks more fresh and soft.
