Lower ABV While the label here features a bowler hat (in French, “Chapeau Melon”), what you’re more likely to be wearing after you try a sip of this is a big ole smile. An almost Gascogne-style white blending Sauvignon Blanc (think Touraine, Sancerre, Pouilly Fume) and Melon de Bourgogne, the grape of bone dry, minerally, Muscadet. Big Sauvignon aromas of ripe peach, Meyer lemon, and grapefruit lead to a crisp, fruit-filled, palate where the citrus builds and a little bit of Melon's salty stone minerality and green apple join the party. Just a wonderfully refreshing and fun bottle of white for simple suppers and sharing with friends.
For You If: You enjoy the lemon-centered citrusy whites of Cotes du Gascone and/or the more herbal Sauvignon of the middle Loire.
