From Françoise Feuillat-Juillot's best vineyard – the best in all Montagny, in fact – and from vines averaging 60 years of age with a southerly exposure on classic Chardonnay-friendly marl-limestone soils. Fermented and aged in 500 and 225 liter French oak casks (just 10-15% new), it showcases the vibrancy and ripeness of the site and vintage. The aromas and flavors of buttered pear, peach, apricot, toasted hazelnut, white flowers and zesty lime are matched by a richly textured palate and vibrant, fresh, finish.
As Vinous says in the 90 point praise, "The 2023 Montagny Les Coères 1er Cru has a composed bouquet with fresh dew-dappled green apple, Anjou pear and subtle fumé scents. The palate is fresh on the entry with a little more charm and complexity, crisp and tensile with a dash of white pepper on the finish. Recommended." Delicious now and improving through 2035 or so. A terrific value in high-end, 1er Cru, white Burgundy for every Chardonnay lover.
