Organic/Bio Sabastian Zuccardi is helping to revolutionize our understanding of Mendoza Malbec and this, as he writes, “is a very important wine in my life. Beginning to make it was a key step on our way.” Whole clusters of Malbec from the stoniest sites in Paraje Altamira ferment and age in raw concrete to unlock Malbec’s own flavor and structure. As Wine Advocate wrote in 2024, “This is the wine that explains their philosophy without breaking your piggy bank. It is delicious, serious, approachable and with aging potential. What else do you want? I have sometimes confused this wine blind with one of their top bottlings. This is one of the best values around.”
As always, this is a salty/mineral take on Malbec but with extra fruit this year. As Wine Spectator says in the 93 point review, "An elegant, vibrant and youthful package built around violet, pineapple guava and fresh berry aromas that join the palate. Cherry, orange and slate details swell around the fresh acidity and drive the finish, with cocoa bean and orange peel details and caressing tannins."
For You If: You’re looking for a powerful red wine that will shine with grilled meats of all kinds with no oak to get in the way of the flavor of the wine and your food; you love the flavor of rich, ripe, unadorned, Malbec.
