Xinomavro is Greece's great red grape, often compared to Nebbiolo for it's firm tannin, bright acids, strawberry fruit and ability to age for years. And this barrel aged Xinomavro from younger vines drinks a bit like a good Nebbiolo from the Langhe, starting with a layered perfume of red berries, exotic spice and sundried tomato. Vivid and pure on the palate where it serves up juicy red fruit, spice and a touch of iron ore minerality that lingers nicely across the broad, long, finish. Pretty great with lamb!
For You If: You enjoy the perfume and tanninc grip of Nebbiolo and want that with a different fruit and minerality profile; you're looking for a great match for braised lamb or pork.
