Just imagine taking the richest, most mouthcoating, just-pressed wine grape juice and then adding enough high-end VSOP Cognac to it to bring the alcohol up to around 17%.  Then put the blend into Cognac barrels for a minimum of 8 months. Both the grape juice and cognac must come from the same estate, the same vineyard, and must be made by the estate's cellar master. This is a Merlot based Pineau des Charentes that is an utterly delcious, sweet elixir of ripe red fruits with a just-right bite of Cognac at the end. Serve it lightly chilled as the French do or try it over rocks with club soda.
