If you’re looking for something to drink with a burger, stew or meat-laden pizza, give this a whirl. It’s 100% Monastrell (Mourvedre in France) from a hot place and cool vintage. The combination is terrific. The ripe blackberry and plum fruit is as rich as ever and the savory black olive, violet, hot rock and black pepper accents give it remarkable complexity for the price. Finishes generous, just a little chewy, and with excellent length. The 8 months in oak polish the wine but don’t flavor it. A winner!
For You If: You love earthier, more peppery, Cotes du Rhone reds; you’re after a red high in flavor, richness and savory spice but lower in oak influence; you’re grilling something- this is going to go great!
