From vines at 1,300 meters (4,200 feet) elevation, this picks up a bit of mountain intensity to go with the lucious, ripe, fruit and touch of oak spice. Talking about the last vintage, Jancis Robinson summed it up nicely (in her usual terse style): "Spicy nose with ripe blackberries in abundance. Then quite fresh and lively on the palate. I think this would answer anyone's desire for 'smoothness' in a red wine. Complete with a decent finish." Fun to drink with and without food and a fine value, too!
For You If: You're looking for a classic Malbec's dark fruit and light oak spice with a bit of moderen freshness and minerality.
Not For You If: You're after "Cab-replacement Malbec" - this is clearly Malbec and from a high-altitude site.
