France Côtes Catalanes in Rousillon has a lot in common with Spain. Including the grape the Spanish call Cariñena and the French Carignan. This is full of rich, dark, blueberry/blackberry cobbler fruit with a nice sense of flesh and soft and easy powdery tannins. This is bold enough to stain your teeth and tongue a bit, and and work a little like American Zinfandel with holiday feasts, stews and cookouts.
For You If: You want a wine with a lot of fruit that is decisively not fruity; you're looking for something to handle the kind of sweet/savory adventure that is a traditional Thanksgiving dinner.
Not For You If: You’re looking for something “fancy” or "sophisticated" – this is more gutsy and bold.
