Yes, Grüner Veltliner is the national white grape of Austria and this is from Italy. But Alto Adige WAS Austria until after WWI and GV shines brightly here when done right. This is done right. Plenty of crisp stone fruit and pear wrapped in dusty minerality and a savory feel that almost reminds you of meat broth. Finishes crisp, firm, and mouthwatering. A hard wine to stop drinking solo and with any white wine food.
For You If: You’re nuts about Grüner and want to try a different expression; you love crisp whites that aren’t fruity; you want to drink a wine from the 3rd oldest operating winery in the world.
Not For You If: You’re after oaky/rich/fruit-filled whites; saying a wine finishes “salty” doesn’t sound yummy to you.
