Natural Lower ABV A throwback wine Michael Wenzel makes from memories of the wines his grandfather drank with lunch in rural Austria in the 1950s and ‘60s. It’s 70% Blaufrankisch and 30% Pinot from eastern Austria and western Hungary with a third done whole cluster carbonic and the rest destemmed in vat before assembly and aging in amphora and steel. A touch of sulfur is added before bottling, but there’s no measurable free sulfur in the finished wine. It’s super light (12.5%), juicy and a bit “wild” in the crunchy berry flavors and feel. Serve chilled like a rose and enjoy with schnitzel for lunch!
