Lower ABV South Africa winemakers are reviving “heritage” grapes – the first to arrive from Europe – including Cinsault. Here 45 year-old vines facing the ocean deliver a wine light on color and huge on snappy flavor. As Vinous says in the 91 point review, “This has a lovely bouquet with vivid crushed strawberry and maraschino cherry scents, delineated and focused and gaining intensity with time. The palate is medium-bodied with fine-boned tannins that frame the red Pinot-like fruit. Wonderful purity. This is a top Cinsault that is absolutely delicious."
For You If: You love wines big on flavor that aren't necessarily dark in color - this is pretty translucent! - or heavy in alcohol - just 12.5% here.
