A fine value, substantial, Rioja Reserva where both oak and Tempranillo varietal character shine through. As Suckling says in the 89 point review, it’s “A straightforward, textured and linear red with aromas of wild berries, dried herbs, bark and sweet spices on the nose. It’s medium-bodied with powdery tannins. Soft texture at the center and a linear development throughout.”
For You If: You enjoy Rioja’s distinctive blend of ripe and savory Tempranillo fruit with a good dose of American oak spice and a firm, steak/lamb-friendly, finish.
Not For You If: You’re in the mood for something fruity – this balanced fruit with lots of herb and spice notes – or don’t enjoy the flavor of American oak vanilla, herb and spice.
