Organic/Bio Lower ABV Ben Casteel just keeps cranking out great Chardonnay and Pinot from his family estate in the Eola Hills. As always, this is sleek and darkly fruited with just a touch more body/richness than usual. Delcious out of the gate and even better with some air or time and rich/deep enough to handle red meat as well as salmon or duck. As Dunnuck says in the 94 point rave, "A deeper jeweled magenta, the 2023 Pinot Noir Estate blends multiple estate parcels and is perfumed with cherry liqueur, black raspberry, violets, candied flowers, and rocky earth. It’s medium-bodied, ripe, and elegant, with fine tannins and more density than the 2021 or 2022 vintages, yet it remains light on its feet."
For You If: You like your Pinot Noir to have mouthfeel and texture aplenty while still staying elegant, savory and pure; you're looking for Pinot with enough fruit for sipping and the complexity/structure to work wonderfully at table.
Not For You If: You're looking for Pinot that feels light or translucent - this has noticable power and concentration at just 13.2% alcohol.
