A good Cotes du Rhone should be a delicious wine at a solid value price. Owen Roe does a great job of “delicious wine at solid value price” in general, but especially here with a Columbia Valley take on Southern Rhone tradition. Mainly Syrah with dollops of Grenache and Mourvedre (so “GSM”) plus a bit of Cinsault and white Rhone varietals. Smoky, juicy, gulpable, delicious fun.
Jeb Dunnuck: 92 Points
“Lots of juicy berry fruits, briary herbs, pepper, and violet notes emerge from the 2019 Sinister Hand, Washington State's take on a terrific Côtes du Rhône. Medium-bodied, balanced, and just straight- up delicious, drink this charming, balanced Syrah blend (there's 18% each of Grenache and Mourvèdre with smaller amounts other varieties) over the coming 4-6 years.”
James Suckling: 92 Points
“Blueberries, lavender, plum leaf, lemon zest and stones on the nose. It’s medium-to full-bodied with fine-grained tannins. Supple, juicy and fruity. Flavorful finish.”
