Lower ABV From northwestern Piemonte – 20 miles west of Milan – this is joyful and substantial rosé of Nebbiolo. A serious red grape delivers a playful pink here, with boatloads of dried her, lemon rind-dusted cherry and strawberry and sliced orange fruit and a burst of white pepper on the mouthwatering, very dry, finish. Certainly fun to sip solo but even better with a platter of meat and veggies from the grill.
For You If: You’re in the mood for pink wine with a decidedly Italian flair; you enjoy darker, richer, rosés like Bandol or Tavel and want that with an extra kick of energy.
Not For You If: You’re looking for the softer, more gentle, pink wines of Provence – this is boisterous, energetic and mouthwatering.
