Organic/Bio Fifth-generation wine growers Christine and Daniel Chaussy bring their passion for organic farming and experience making top-notch Chateauneuf du Pape together to create this deliciously robust Cotes du Rhone Villages bargain. It’s 55% Grenache with 20% Syrah, 20% Mourvedre and 5% Carignan, balancing Grenache's bold red fruit with darker fruit and earth tones from the other grapes. All of the grapes are meticulously sorted, fully destemmed and then ferment with native yeasts in stainless steel. A few months in a mixture of large, older, oak casks and concrete tanks lets the wine come together without hard edges or any overt oak flavor to mask the delicious fruit and black pepper spice.
You’ll love the deep, dark, chocolaty richness to the ripe black raspberry and blueberry fruit and also the savory black olive and notions of herbs like rosemary and thyme the French call garigue. It’s definitely mouthfilling and broad, but nicely focused and balanced as well. The finish is strong and long enough to stand up to big flavors at table, but not get in the way of pre- and post-dinner sipping. Built to give delight with roasts, stews, and anything off the grill for 4-5 years to come.
