Lower ABV Pascal Maillard’s 2022 Bourgogne Blanc from vines outside Chorey-les-Beaune and Ladoix is definitely white Burgundy in class, style and quality. But it’s Burgundy Chardonnay with the extra richness and exuberance of the dry 2022 harvest, with a fluid, gliding, texture and nice dollop of salty stone minerality that will appeal to all kinds if white wine fans.
It's just bursting with joyful aromas of ripe yellow apple, pear and Clementine fruit with just-right and classic Burgundy accents of toasted hazelnut and fresh, tangy, French butter (the stuff you love so much when you go to France but never quite get yourself to spring for when back home in the DMV). The fruit and buttered nut flavors pick up a tiny hint of freshening mint/chervil on the end as the crisp apple and orange citrus flavors keep on pumping through the dry, fresh, finish. Almost too easy to drink, wonderfully thirst-quenching, built to delight pretty much anyone who likes really good, flavorful, delicious, white wine. We’d call it “summer Chardonnay” but it’s going to be just as delightful as a high-end cocktail white and at table with all kinds of food this fall and winter, too.
