Lower ABV The easy way to describe this is as a Central Coast, California, homage to France's Chateauneuf du Pape.  And it does mimic the blend with about half Grenache Noir plus Syrah and Mourvedre. And the ripe fruit flavors and long finish call out "Southern Rhone" for sure. But with an alcohol of under 13% and stunning freshness and minerality and almost over-the-top drinkability...well, that's not Chateauneuf in these climate-change times!

Wine Enthusiast's 93 point rave for the 2018 gives you a good idea of what to expect here: "This blend of 52% Grenache, 36% Syrah and 12% Mourvèdre speaks so strongly to the terroir of the Central Coast as it is loaded from nose to finish with dewy sagebrush, crisp freshness and peppery spice. It begins with aromas of raspberry, pomegranate and herb, then settles comfortably into a firmly textured palate of oregano, pepper, sandalwood and more red fruit."
