Lower ABVNorthern Italy does this kind of "country wine" so very, very, well. Here it's a blend of mainly Barbera and Dolcetto with a bit of Nebbiolo and other local grapes, all picked fresh and fermented gently in stainless stell. As Kermit Lynch notes, Marco Tintero's wines are "simple, fun, fresh, and extremely affordable, all while retaining a distinct local identity that makes them wonderful everyday piemontese sippers." Crunchy black cherry and blackberry fruit, hints of earth, licorice and spice, and a bright tang of tart black cherry on the finish makes your mouth water and hand reach over to the bottle for another pour. At 12% alcohol, this takes a chill nicely if you want to go that way. Terrific match for salami, pizza, cheeses, even burgers or rich stews. Excellent value.
