Organic/Bio Lower ABV Malandes has two plots of vines here, one facing south and planted in 1967 and the other more north and planted in 1987. Around 85% of the cuvee was aged in cask (mostly used) in 2021, but the wine clearly had the stuffing and intensity needed to handle it. As usual, there’s lovely fruit and minerality here now that will blossom nicely over time as the wood fades. Decant for an hour to enjoy tonight or, better, set it aside for a half-dozen years.
"Once again there is subtle but not invisible wood framing the ripe but cool aromas of apple, pear, white peach and a plenitude of Chablis elements, especially shellfish. There is again excellent volume to the dense and serious yet refined flavors that possess and finest texture in the range while delivering superb length on the balanced finale. Lovely."
