Climate change has been very good to Burgundy’s Pernand-Vergelesses, giving a touch more richness to what had often been slightly austere wines. This is a great example and outstanding value in top-notch Burgundy Chardonnay. The captivating perfume of ripe peach, yellow pear, and buttered hazelnut pulls you into deeply concentrated flavors of green peach, Meyer lemon, sweet spice and tangy cultured butter. Long on the palate and very long on the finish as a burst of citrus lifts and sustains flavors of bruleed peach, lemon pulp and hazelnut. Delicious now – 2030 at least.
