A stylish, nicely rich, Pinot from the southern end of Beaune's 1er Cru belt not far from the border with Pommard. Around 30% whole customers and aging in mostly used French oak and a healthy, not extravagant, 13.4% alcohol make this a lovely choice for enjoyment over the next few years.

The sleeker and finer medium-bodied flavors possess excellent verve before culminating in a subtly mineral-suffused, youthfully austere and decidedly firm finale. This is a quality effort. "The 2019 Beaune Les Vignes Franches 1er Cru has a ripe, slightly candied, fresh and vibrant nose with lifted red cherries, wild strawberry and rose petal scents. The 2019 is very pure and nicely focused. The palate is medium-bodied with a vibrant entry, demonstrating a little more grip and density towards the close compared to the Les Valières. Composed and taut on the finish. This should drink well for several years."
