Love the dark, smoky, intensity of wines grown on the volcanic Jory soils of the Dundee Hills? Well, then this is your Ken Wright because it delivers that rich depth for sure. The vineyard actually belongs to Ken’s son, Cody Wright, who farms it for his Purple Hands project. Ken says the site wants to express cherry, huckleberry, and cotton candy aromas/flavors in a wine with lush texture and bright acids. As with Abbott Claim, this wine no longer goes to the critics, but we loved the structure and dark power of the 2019 and expect more of that (if with a bit more freshness) in 2021.
"Ever picked raspberries alongside a dusty country road, eating a few along the way? Then you know everything you need to know about this wine. It tastes like that sweet juice running down your chin. Additional aromas and flavors of strawberries, tangerines and jasmine tea are merely a bonus."
