Patricia Green Cellars makes more wine from this premier Willamette Valley vineyard than anyone else. As Jim Anderson explains, "Because we take a lot by both volume and diversity of blocks and clones and because we choose to bottle some barrels from some of the individual blocks, we can create a larger bottling that is still full of Freedom Hill goodness while coming in at a price atypical of Freedom Hill Vineyard made by any other producer."
As always, this is mainly Dijon 115 plus splashes of Coury Clone and Wasensvil done in a wild diversity of cooperage. It's a wine of dark fruit and intense flavors that stays elegant and highly drinkable. The Vinous 94 point write-up captures it nicely, "An enticing blend of dried roses, peppery spice and woodland berries wafts up from the 2022 Pinot Noir Freedom Hill Vineyard. This is vividly fruit-focused yet crisp in feel, with tactile minerals adding a crunchy sensation as tart red and blue fruits swirl throughout. It tapers off youthfully tense, leaving a staining of primary concentration while silty tannins frame the experience well."
For You If: You love how Willamette Valley Pinot blends fruit, earth and spice into a generous wine of both elegance and satisfying texture.
Not For You If: You're looking for something that reads really light or really heavy - this slots in nicely in the middle!
