A unfortunately tiny allocation of a brilliant wine from Gerard Seguin's 0.7 acre plot of 40-50 year old vines growing just uphill from Chambolle's landmark chapel. "Pretty" is a word we use a lot for first-rate Chambolle, and it certainly applies here in a wine of captivating perfume and pure and elegant red berry fruit. The sweet spice of barrel (40% new) adds complexity without wood flavors and the very fine tannins sustain a long finish that is at once very ripe and very fresh. The 93 point review from Wine Enthusiast for the 2019 points the way to the slightly richer and more complex 2020 edition: "Grown close to the village, this ripe and perfumed wine is generous and developing great richness. It already has the elegance of a Chambolle while also having great structure. The wine is good for long-term aging."
