Organic/Bio Lower ABV About 25 years ago, current owners Richard Rottiers and Amandine Marchive's grandfather decided that this "village" level vineyard needed to be bottled on its own. Which isn't shocking, since it's from now 70+ year-old vines growing right on the border of Grand Cru Valmur. It's made like the estate's other 1er Cru bottlings, with a cool fermentation and then aging in tank and 40% in older barrels. It's one of the great values in Chablis, a 1er Cru-quality wine at a lower than average Village bottling price. Not to be missed.
For You If: You want Chablis 1er Cru quality at a pretty sharp Village level price
Not For You If: You want either the super-clean flavors of Chablis that has seen no oak or the more overt oaky profile of some Cote d’Or whites – this is shaped by barrel and shows a tiny hint of smoke.
“A premium cuvée from a parcel planted between 1966 and 1970, at the bottom of the Vaudésir valley. Precise and pure, crystalline and focused, with pronounced oyster-shell characters coming through. 40% matured in one- to five-year-old oak. A high-class Chablis which could easily pass muster as a premier cru (at the minimum). Great finesse and concentration."
