Organic/Bio Lower ABV Always the most intense, pure, and “Chablis” of the 1er Crus here and shining more brightly than ever in 2019. It’s from one of the warmer sites in Chablis and, like the Grand Crus, with prime southern exposure. So Mont de Milieu typically gives wines of more body and richness and most other 1er sites and, in warm years, can flirt with over-ripeness and the exotic. At Malandes, though, Mont de Milieu is also always loaded with zippy acids and crunchy chalk minerality. The vineyard was hit hard by frost, though, so the entire harvest went into a single, 500 liter, barrel. We’re thrilled to have at least a little of the 50 cases made to offer you.

“Here there is slightly more evident oak influence on the ever-so-mildly exotic nose of orange peel, white peach and more limited though not invisible Chablis typicity. As is virtually always the case with this wine, there is both excellent volume and richness to the solidly powerful larger-bodied flavors that possess a highly seductive texture, all wrapped in a lingering and complex finish that is supported by a bright core of saliva-inducing acidity. Very much worth checking out.”
