Organic/Bio Lower ABV We’ve sold these wines for 11 vintages, and every year the results are the same: this is Doug’s favorite wine in the set. The plantings here date before growers went to the nursery and order x% of clone x and y% of clone y. Instead it’s from a “massal selection” – cuttings taken from across another older vineyard, grafted to new rootstocks, and planted in a wonderfully divers mixture of Chardonnay clones. The old, diverse, vineyard handled 2021’s trauma beautifully, giving Chablis of captivating richness and flesh balanced by intense minerality and precision. Delicious already and better still from 2025.
“57% was made in 500 litre barrels, what precision! Pale lemon colour, with quite a stylish bouquet. The fruit continues very attractively on the palate though obviously without the weight of 2020. Enjoyable in the medium term.” InsideBurgundy 90-93 points
“Slightly riper but still agreeably fresh aromas exhibit good Chablis character with its notes of quinine, iodine, wet stone, green fruit and white flower. The succulent and rich medium-weight flavors possess a seductive mid-palate while delivering solid depth and persistence on the bitter lemon-inflected finish. This would benefit from more depth but that should reasonably occur.”
