After leading the Rhone co-op of Estezargues to prominence, in 2017 Denis Deschamps struck out on his own with this small project on the western edge of the southern Rhone Valley. These vines grow on typical Rhone soils with a salting of limestone (more rare in the region), which gives ripe and juicy Grenache, Syrah and Cinsault an extra lift. Fermenting fully destemmed, but not crushed, berries adds more freshness still and allows for the use of ultra-low levels of sulfur.
The wine’s delicious, juicy and fresh and bursting with sweet red raspberry fruit, a hint of red licorice, and captivating accents of incense and garrigue. Super-fine, ripe, tannins coat your palate and climb your gums, squeezing out even more flavor on the fresh as a daisy finish. Really vibrant, delicious, Cotes du Rhone that’s almost too easy to drink.
