Yes, it's far too soon to be drinking 2021 red Burgundies...but this is so utterly charming already that it's at least worth dipping into! This is just Jerome Billard's 5th or 6th harvest from Les Hates, a village site surrounded by better known (and more expensive) 1er Cru vines. It's a bit youthfully pixilated and tangy now, but already delivering lovely griotte cherry fruit, a bunch of fresh red flowers, and a captivating streak of stony minerality before the tannins come up to squeeze gently and extend the finish further. Absolutely better from early 2023 and delicious through 2030, but already a charming bistro-style delight.
