Organic/Bio Lower ABV This is a delicious wine, a tremendous value, and a knock-out house white to enjoy now-2026. Don't let the low price and humble appellation fool you - there is very high-end and expensive winegrowing at work here. The vineyard 3 hectare vineyard shares the chalky, limestone-rich, soils of nearby St Aubin. Farming is organic and, from 2018, Billard works the site without tractors - a draft horse pulls the plow and mower to keep the soils loose and vines thriving. And, of course, adding in a bit of natural fertilizer here and there. Fermentation is in used French oak and the wine gets 10 months in oak on the fine lees for creamy richness.
In 2021, there’s not much wine – the early April frosts wiped out around 60% of the fruit. Which especially sad, since the quality is astounding. As usual, the aromas are a captivating blend of white flowers, fresh peach, juicy citrus – almost like you twisted a sliver of lemon rind over a bowl of mid-summer peaches. The texture is silky and round with excellent concentration and focus, delivering generous stone fruit and pear flavors with supporting wet stone, chalk and citrus flavors that linger through a long, vivid, finish.
