In the heart of the Corbieres region and with 1,000 years of history behind it, Mattes-Sabran crafts wonderfully authentic and satisfying Languedoc wines. This is a great example from 100% Syrah, 20-50 year-old vines, and vineyards that are covered in rocks and stones and scrubby garrigue. Big aromas and flavors of blackberry, blueberry, licorice plum and more with a touch of smoke and rounded tannins from time in French oak. A terrific cookout/roasted meat pairing but also a great match with eggplant and black olive stew.
