Rarity of rarities, a really good Pauillac at a very attractive price. From the gravel and clay soils of Bordeaux’s most famous commune, this is a 50/50 blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot aged in tank and French oak. The classic Pauillac austerity of texture and structure is here balanced by ripe blackcurrant and black cherry fruit with accents of smoke, spice and tobacco. Drinking well already (especially with a little air), it’s a terrific companion to lamb or beef. Stylish.
