Lower ABV What to expect from a wine grown on the Italian island of Ischia and made from about equal parts Biancolella and Forastera plus 15% other assorted local varieties such as Collionara and Biancolellone? Well, when you remember that Cenatiempo's wines reflect the coming together of Italian sun, volcanic hills and the ocean's spray, you'll have a pretty good idea! The first sniff smells a little like leesy Muscadet with a spray of wild flowers and a dollop of crisp apple. Give it just a little air, though, and you can almost smell the apple ripen to golden deliciousness with even a light hint of pie crust.
Take a sip and it’s crisp, salty, minerally but not at all austere. Herby Meyer lemon, a sprinkle of lime pith and ripe golden apple flavors cascade across your palate before salty lemon/lime flavors well up on the mouthwatering finish. You’ll be impressed, but don’t stop paying attention! This is one of those amazing wines that presents a different side of its delicious self with every sip. Naturally, it will shine with any shellfish you put in front of it, but try it with tangy cheeses or even herbed lentils.
