Perhaps the benchmark interpretation of Virginia's most important white grape, the 2021 Viognier from Barboursville is ripe and aromatic and finishes dry and fresh. Suckling's 93 point rave from last year still applies: "A lovely nose of ripe stone fruit, saffron and fresh flowers. Medium-bodied. Really refined and driving. The fruit is expressive and dynamic with some white pepper and nutmeg adding charming complexity. Well-balanced and flavorful wine."
