Lower ABV In 2000, Andreas Adams revived his grandfather’s long defunct estate with grapes from this tiny plot in Dhroner Hofberg. Today his sister has joined and holdings are up to 12 acres, including this original patch of vines planted on their own roots in the 1930s. A great site and vintage give the perfect interplay of juicy ripe fruit vs biting stony minerality and finger lime acids. Really quivers with nervous energy and tingles on the palate. A terrifically intense and satisfying Mosel Riesling.
For You If: “Candied lime skin and green peach dusted with crushed rock and a sprinkling of what is nearly – but not – battery acid” sounds like your kind of wine; you need something you can claim is “sweet” that doesn’t drink that way at all.
Not For You If: You like your whites round, full, fleshy or easy – this is none of those. You’re absolutely, 100%, irredeemably opposed to any residual sugar in your wine (which, incidentally, means you can’t have champagne since 99% has RS added as dosage. Just sayin’…).
