Now THIS is what you hope for in top-quality, Grand Cru, Corton – excellent ripeness, fine palate and finish length, plenty of complexity, and a muscular, powerful, finish that just needs some seared duck or roasted lamb to create magic. The aromatics here are complex and wonderfully integrated, a mélange of sweet spice, Bing and black cherry, damp forest floor, lavender, raspberry compote and more. If you can get past swirling and sniffing, you’ll find a generous mouthful of fruit that starts black and turns red as it moves across your palate with excellent freshness and verve.
The muscular tannins remain...muscular. But the fruit is so juicy ripe that your mouth waters freely, resolving the tannic grip almost as well as a good piece of duck or lamb would. Very, very, long. A wine truly worth savoring.
