Lower ABV Yes, this is Pinot Noir from Chile and you should buy it anyway. Because Guillermo Luksic pioneered planting Chardonnay and Pinot Noir on the chalky limestone coastal soils of the Valle de Limari and the results have little to do with whatever you might be expecting from “Chilean Pinot Noir.” This is explosively fruited – super-ripe strawberry, raspberry, a hint of blood orange – in a wine that feels round and full (at just 13.0% alcohol) and glides across your palate like silk through a generous, fine, finish. It’s delicious, a terrific value, and will be as fun sipping solo with a chill in warm weather as it is right now with all kinds of Pinot-friendly food. Seriously good stuff.
