Lower ABV One of the most delicious South African Chenin Blanc we’ve tried to date at any price. It’s from an historic farm on the lower slopes of the Simonsberg mountain, just outside of Stellenbosch that produced wine from the 18th century through the 1950s. The Milner family took it on in 1969 to raise race horses before returning to wine in 2005. This is from bush-vine Chenin planted by a neighbor in 1985 picked ripe at 13.0% and aged 9 months in old cask. It’s loaded with white peach and pear fruit plus a dash of kumquat and citrus blossom and just a touch of citrus pith bite. It will certainly shine with seafood and poultry and is pure delight to simply sip with cheese and crackers. Terrific wine.
For You If: You want a big mouthful of clear as a bell fruit flavor in a wine that’s fresh, complex, and really delicious!
Not For You If: You’re looking for something deeply rich in texture or as wildly fruited as Sauvignon Blanc.
