Lower ABV The intensity of 100 year-old vines and Rousillon’s sunny warmth balanced by cooling seaside breezes and mainly steel aging (70% vs 30% in barrel). Old-vine Grenache Blanc and younger Roussanne are picked in two passes, once early for freshness and then later for body and texture. JamesSuckling.com describes in nicely in the 92 point review, “A fresh and precise nose here, showing wild Mediterranean herbs and some grilled tarragon to the zesty lemon, chalk and white fruit. Fresh, dry and chalky on the medium-bodied palate, but also aromatic, with melted wild-herb and stone-fruit flavors and a light mineral quality. Delicious now, but will hold, too.”
For You If: You’re planning to eat a Mediterranean seafood dish – think lots of thyme, maybe even some lavender, and olives; you’re after a wine that will stand up to rich flavors and still stays fresh and easy enough for solo sipping.
Not For You If: You’re looking for something heavy or thick – this is just 13.0% alcohol and has the flavors and textures of something like a white Rhone but in a fresher, more zesty, style.
