Lower ABV The Falerio DOC sits at the southern end of the Marche, on Italy's Adriatic coast just East of Umbria. The relatively new DOC was created in 1975 to promote the region's two best white wine grapes - Passerina and Pecorino - while continuing to allow use of the ubiquitous Trebbiano. As required by the DOC rules, De Angelis uses all three grapes here, all grown on the lower slopes of the steep hills that run down to sand and stone beaches along the Adriatic Sea.
Wow - is this vintage terrific. It shows remarkable density and concentration (especially at just 12.5% alcohol) and generous dollops of tart yellow peach, lime juice, and sea salt aromas and flavors. More complexity, concentration and length than we’ve tasted before in a wine that remains a fabulous value. It’s pretty much the most perfect fish taco wine ever, but will also sing with crudo, garlicky shrimp, salads and sipping.
