A pretty remarkable value in top-notch, but friendly, Agalianico from a Taurasi-based winery. Plump, sweetly fruited, and just a touch grippy on the finish, it’s a great cook-out and rich food red.

"The 2019 Aglianico Donna Chiara wafts up to show wild strawberries, stems and all, with smoky minerals and savory herbs that develop over time. This is cool-toned yet complex, contrasting salty minerals with tart black fruits and spices, as grippy tannins slowly take hold toward the close. A twang of sweet and sour citrus resonates through the finale, leaving a remarkably fresh impression for a wine packed full of so much character. Very nice."
