A terrific old-vines Cotes du Rhone from this Chateauneuf du Pape traditionalist. It's 65% Grenache plus Syrah and Mourvedre and dashes of Cinsault and Carignan, aged 75% in cement and 25% in used oak. "Deep" is the word we keep coming back to - deep aromas, deep mouthfeel and deep flavors of blackberry, strawberry, kirsch and chocolate. Juicy, fleshy, supple fun here.

"A rich and generous Cotes-du-Rhone with tons of damson plums and ripe blackberries, but also notes of hot, dry earth and spice. Lovely, rich and creamy mid-palate with tons of soft tannin, then a long, silky finish. A touch of overripe plum comes though at the end, but the wine remains balanced and subtle. Drink now."
