Lower ABV Erbaluce is the historic grape of Canavese, the northern part of Piemonte just south of the entrance to Carema and the Valle d'Aosta. Remo Falconieri, now in his 80s, crafts a vibrant, zesty, youthful example. This serves up loads of tangy stone fruit and pulpy lemon in a wine that feels nicely weighty but still light, fresh, and fun. Enough acidity to cut through something cheesy or fatty and brilliant with fresh fish or sipped all on its own.
For You If: You're in the mood for the energy and cut of a classic Italian white with a bit more weight and density than, say, Pinot Grigio; you enjoy the mouthfeel of Falanghina and want that in a wine that's a touch softer and less grippy on the finish.
Not For You If: You're looking for full-bodied, rich or oaked - this is fully in flavor but just 12.5% alcohol, fresh, and done all in steel.
