Andre Roger’s vintage Champagne comes from 50+ year-old vines on the Grand Cru slopes of Ay. “Intense” is the best word here, mainly from the power of the old-vine Pinot Noir making up the wine’s core but also time in wood before bottling. The big orchard fruit aromas and flavors are complemented by plenty of toast/brioche accents and a twist of orange peel that start on the creamy palate and lingers through the dry, long, finish. Yum.
