The husband-and-wife team of Mark Porembski and Jennifer Williams crafted their 275 case 2017 Cabernet from three outstanding Napa Valley vineyards. Sleeping Lady in Yountville gives deep fruit and classic structure. St. Helena's Lewelling Ranch, continuously farmed since 1864, add richness and flesh and a connection to Napa history. And, as Mark writes, “We love how the Oakville Station vineyard brings purity and classic cabernet flavor depth to the blend.” Note that Oakville Station is in a pretty good location – surrounded on three sides by Tokalon and Martha’s Vyd on the other!
As always, the final bottling of Zeitgeist Cabernet is a super-strict selection of the barrels Mark and Jen made from these super-premium sources. As in 2016, about 8% Cabernet Franc adds perfume and vibrancy to this rich, powerful, wine that can be enjoyed tonight with a little time in decanter and will sail on nicely in your cellar for at least 15 years more.
"Starting with the 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon (92% Cabernet Sauvignon and the rest Cabernet Franc), it has a vibrant purple color as well as a great nose of red, blue, and black fruits intermixed with lots of spice, spring flowers, chocolate, and forest floor. It's not a blockbuster, but it’s just seamless, gorgeously textured, and a stunning value [$85]."

"A barrel sample blended of 96% Cabernet Sauvignon and 4% Cabernet Franc, the 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon is deep garnet-purple in color and very perfumed with blackberries, cassis and fragrant soil with wafts of lavender and roses. The palate is full, firm and grainy with great freshness and loads of red and black fruit layers on the finish."
